About Laura B Health

What this site is

Laura B Health is an independent health and wellness publication covering the health questions that come up in midlife — for women, for men, and for the families they look after.

Most health information sits at one of two extremes. Either it is written for clinicians and assumes you already understand the terminology, or it is written to sell you something and quietly skips the parts that would complicate the sale. We aim for the space in between: explanations detailed enough to be genuinely useful, written plainly enough to be read on a phone between other responsibilities.

Who this is for

Our readers are typically somewhere in their late thirties to their fifties. Many are managing their own health changes while also paying attention to a partner’s and often a parent’s. The questions they arrive with tend to be specific and practical:

  • Why has my energy changed, and is this normal for my age?
  • What does the research actually say about this ingredient I keep seeing advertised?
  • Is this supplement worth the money, or am I paying for marketing?
  • What should I ask my doctor about at my next appointment?

We cover both women’s and men’s health because health decisions in most households are not made in isolation. The person researching magnesium for their own sleep is often the same person wondering whether their partner’s fatigue warrants a conversation with a doctor.

How we work

Laura B Health is a publication, not a personal blog. Our articles are researched and compiled from published scientific literature, clinical guidance from recognised health bodies, and manufacturer documentation. We do not publish invented personal testimonials or first-person accounts of taking products.

We think that distinction matters. A great deal of health marketing runs on anecdote — someone’s transformation story, someone’s dramatic result. Those stories are persuasive precisely because they bypass the question of whether the evidence supports them. We would rather show you the evidence and let you decide.

Our full Editorial Policy explains our sourcing standards, how we handle uncertainty in the research, and how we correct errors.

How we make money

This site earns commission from affiliate links. When we link to a product and you buy it, we may receive a payment from the retailer or manufacturer at no additional cost to you.

We state this plainly because you should factor it in when reading anything we write about a product. Our Affiliate Disclosure sets out exactly how these relationships work and what they do and do not influence.

What we are not

We are not doctors, and nothing published here is medical advice. We do not know your medical history, your medications, or your circumstances — and all three matter enormously when it comes to health decisions.

What we can do is help you understand the landscape well enough to have a better conversation with someone who does know those things. Please read our Medical Disclaimer before acting on anything you read here.
